Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

As our group moves north from Lisbon and Sintra toward Porto, Portugal we have a stop at another breath taking winery…  this one VERY modern in its approach….  Quita do Encontro….. our host was so happy when we surprised her with her own bottle of  Tara Bella ’09 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

Russian River Valley vineyard grapes

Walking the vineyard often and talking to our beautiful grapes in the Russian River Valley.  We like to tell them how beautiful they are and how grateful we are in advance for their bountiful harvest…..

Here is a toast to our grapes!!!

Russian River Valley cabernet sauvignon

These are unopened Cabernet Sauvignon flowers from our “Reserve” vineyard in the Russian River Valley.  In about 2 weeks these will open and “BLOOM”.  Grapes self-pollinate.  Then the will “SET” into grapes…… We were fortunate to get about 16″ of rain in March so our wells are not bone dry.  Still having to conserve water this year, but the 2014 harvest is off to a beautiful start.

We were excited to travel up to Seattle last week and take part in the Wine Road’s ‘Taste of Sonoma’ event to benefit the Northwest Harvest Food Bank. We represented the Russian River Valley with our fellow winemakers and had a fantastic time. We also helped raise $12,000 for the food bank.

Seattle is a very wine savvy city and we met a lot of great people excited to have a taste of Sonoma in downtown Seattle. They have a lot of great wineries in Washington as well. We were proud to pour our Cabernet Sauvignon and represent our beautiful wine country.

A few photos from the event.
